2024 Texas Volunteer Firefighter Health Screening Summit


The 2024 Texas Volunteer Firefighter Health Screening Summit aims to work with the volunteer fire community to identify the occupational medical screening needs of Texas volunteer fire departments. The summit will bring together a cross-disciplinary group to identify strategies needed to create a successful mobile rural Texas volunteer fire service occupational medical screening program.

Summit Aims:
1. Conduct a summit with local, state, and national stakeholders to identify key needs, priorities, and barriers for a mobile occupational screening program and to develop practical strategies for its implementation.

2. Facilitate focus groups with relevant stakeholders to assess specific needs, barriers, and priorities for a mobile occupational medical screening program designed for rural Texas volunteer firefighters.

3. Develop a customized, evidence-based mobile screening protocol to address the unique requirements of rural volunteer firefighters and adapt existing protocols such as NFPA 1582 to fit a mobile application.
