CASPER 2019

Description

This is the “Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER)” course, offered by the Training and Edication Collaborative System Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center (TECS-PERLC). This course will acquaint you with the processes involved in developing and deploying a CASPER team during an emergency incident.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Define CASPER and its capabilities after a disaster
  • Describe how CASPER fits within an ICS
  • Recognize how and when to conduct a field based assessment after a disaster
  • Identify sample design and data collection methodology for a CASPER
  • Explain how to analyze data collected and suggest appropriate actions to meet the immediate public health care needs of the affected population

Intended Audience

Public health and emergency management practitioners who want to be prepared for a public health threat and know how that threat impacts children. No prior experience is required.
